I need this. its a pain to use a normal keyboard left-handed. When im working in Solidworks i tend to keep my right hand on the mouse and do any typing left-handed.

Try a tenkeyless (mechanical keyboard of course) and then a seperate numb pad

Nah. That would be like expecting a different shift pattern between LHD and RHD cars.

I have an AZIO Levetron Mech 5 mechanical keyboard. It looks a little douchey, but the only reason I got it (other than the MX black switches) was that the numpad is removable and can be mounted on the left side. In SolidWorks it is a godsend.

it helps to do fine details and dimensions. also i have about 75% of my keys linked to some function or another.
